How Does Invisalign Work?

Invisalign aligners use the same principle as traditional braces when it comes to moving your teeth. But their clear aligners offer a boost of aesthetic appeal since they are nearly invisible when you wear them. Plus, they’re easier to care for and removable for meals or brushing and flossing.

When you book your Invisalign consultation, we take a 3D intraoral scan and send it to Invisalign Labs, where they formulate a digital treatment plan. Then, we’ll invite you back to our office where you can view a 3D video of your tooth movement and the proposed results. If you’re happy with the preview, we can begin to plan for fitting the aligners to your teeth.

Your trays should be worn for at least 22 hours a day and removed during meals or when you’re brushing and flossing. Be sure to change your aligners as directed, which is usually every two weeks.

What to Expect

The length of Invisalign orthodontic therapy varies from case to case, depending on how severely crowded your teeth are. For some people, the process only takes a couple of months. For others, it may take up to two years.

After your Invisalign experience is complete, we will fit you with retainers to help you preserve your smile’s alignment. Retainers can be fixed or removable, depending on your preferences.
